His family heritage in Venice can be traced back to the 10th century with ancestors ranging from merchants to explorers. Francesco da Mosto was born in Venice in 1961, and is an acclaimed architect, historian, author and television presenter. Francesco’s intimate ancestral bond with Venice has given him a unique perspective on the history of his home city. Francesco is an enthusiastic advocate for Venice and the preservation of its rich cultural and architectural heritage.
He has presented a number of BBC documentaries, including Francesco’s Venice (2004), Francesco’s Mediterranean Voyage (2008), and Shakespeare in Italy (2012) as well as writing books to accompany each series.
Francesco still lives in the family palazzo overlooking the Grand Canal with his wife, Jane and their four children. He is much in demand as a public speaker, both in Italy and overseas.
