RESTORING LOST GARDEN HERITAGE
A garden restorer and landscape designer, Maria Chiara Pozzana has designed many private gardens throughout Italy.
Maria began her career as an architect working on the restoration of monuments in Florence, and has twice restored the 16th-century sculpture Colossus of the Apennines by Giambologna, which stands in Florence’s Pratolino Park. She has also worked on the restoration of public parks including the four-hectare Bardini Garden in Florence.
A teacher of online courses in garden and planting design, Maria is president of the Firenze Greenway Association, a project she launched in 2003.
Maria has authored a number of books on garden restoration and garden design, including a complete guide to the public gardens of Florence and Tuscany (2000 Giunti Firenze).
In 2022, Maria organised an academic summit on the subject of notable gardens established by English residents in the Liguria region of north-western Italy during the late 19th century.
